Club scores goalposts Rugby league
NATIONALS candidate for Page Kevin Hogan has pledged $13,750 for new goal posts at South Grafton's McKittrick Park to help the local rugby league club.
Mr Hogan said the club had worked hard to upgrade the ground, raising the money for a new scoreboard but had fallen shy of new goalposts.
"I know how important sport is to our community and I'm proud to be able to reward their efforts with these new posts," Mr Hogan said.
"McKittrick Park is the home ground of the South Grafton Rebels but also hosts the Grafton Ghosts and other rugby league teams throughout the region.
"I'm thrilled to be able to announce funds like this; it's been grassroots campaigning that's led me to projects such as this one. I'm glad to be able to lend a helping hand.
South Grafton Rugby League Club committee member Patrick Swift, who chased the quotes for the project, said the timing couldn't have been better.
"We just got the scoreboard done and the upgrade of the goalposts was the last piece missing to make this a really spectacular ground," Mr Swift said.
"It's just on the end of the season, now so come footy season next year, which will be the 100th anniversary games, we'll have a really competitive ground. We can't wait."
