Coalition steadily taking Mosul

ISLAMIC State is losing more ground in Mosul. Its militants have been dislodged from a third of the eastern side of the city. The built-up area on the east is bigger than the west, where the old city is. Four weeks into the campaign to end IS's two-year rule of Mosul, more than 1000 insurgents have been killed. The toll for the campaign overall, including security forces, civilians and IS fighters, is not known. Australian Brigadier Roger Noble said: "Once you get into the city and the enemy being the way they are, with civilians, it's a difficult fight, but fundamentally it's on track.”
