Coastal chillout now a hot gig

IT was meant to be a small gathering for families and music lovers to dance and raise money in the process, but Coastal Chillout 2009 proved to be so much more.

Originally the concert was slotted for a property at Ashby, with campers getting old-fashioned festival fun.

The property is owned by organisers of the event Col and Maxine Stephens, who came up with the idea to raise money for the Cancer Council's Relay for Life.

The couple, on police advice, decided to not use their property as the venue. The Clarence Hotel management in Maclean provided its premises as the venue.

Talent like The Atoms, Nancy Hunt, Sharon Moore, 4 Way Street and the Psychedelic Goldfish and Maori guitar legend Willie Hona of The Herbs gave an incredible performance. More than $2000 was raised and there are definitely rumours of a Coastal Chillout 2010.
