Coffee to raise funds for charity

THIS weekend, get out and buy a cappuccino to help support disadvantaged kids.

Gloria Jean's Coffees will host the fundraising event Cappuccino for a Cause on Friday October 28 and Saturday October 29. They will donate 50 cents of every cappuccino sold to Variety, the Children's Charity.

Variety helps tens of thousands of children every year who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.

Variety also offers grants to hospitals and provides children with fun experiences such as parties and adventure camps.

Gloria Jean's Coffees community marketing manager Kylie Keioskie said they are thrilled to be part of the campaign.

"When the opportunity came for us to support Variety, we didn't hesitate to jump on board," Mrs Keioskie said.

"They provide such a wonderful service to our community."

Within the past five years, Cappuccino for a Cause has raised over $450,000 for a number of different charities including Opportunity International and Children's Hospital Foundations Australia.

This year, the event aims to raise $150,000 nationally to fund three Sunshine Coaches, which would allow children to be transported to school and community events.

They are also hoping to raise enough money to purchase two Liberty Swings, which are custom-built swing-sets designed for children in wheelchairs.
