Coffs Suns too good at carnival

IN AN action-packed weekend of basketball action Coffs Harbour Suns took the A-Grade women's title at the Jacaranda Carnival at Grafton Sports Centre yesterday.

The Suns held out Sydney visitors the Hearts to win the grand final 41-32 and keep the trophy on the north coast.

The men's final was a thrilling encounter, with the Byron Bay Brews edging out last year's winners the Entertainers 58-52.

"It was an awesome weekend and has been a very busy time for all involved," Sarah Baker, manager of the Sports Centre, said.

"We had 55 teams compete over the two days and the finals reflected the strong quality of basketball we saw played across the board.

"Well done to the winners."
