BMX riders compete in champs

IT WAS all systems go for Junction Hill’s pacey BMX duo George and Brock Cole and South Grafton rider Cooper Johnson on Easter Sunday.

The trio headed to Lake Macquarie BMX Club to compete in the East Coast Championships and finished with emphatic results.

Johnson notched his first major race meet as an eight-year-old with a fifth place showing after running third until the final straight.

Only a lack of finishing polish denied Johnson a spot on the podium, which would be a stellar feat for a rookie rider.

An excited George won the eight to 10 years cruisers and claimed second in the 10 years boys’ class to continue his strong form.

Brock ended the day with seventh in the 15 boys’ final and won the 15-16 years Cruiser.

The trio have proven to be stars on the local circuit in recent times with the Cole boys impressing earlier this year at numerous events.
