Collapse in court house delays proceedings

THE WHEELS of justice ground to a halt in Maclean Court House this morning when a defendant collapsed in the court room.

Court staff said the woman appeared to have a panic attack and collapsed.

"She appeared to be hyperventilating and having a fit," a  staff member said.

"The police were really good, they nursed her right through it till the ambulance arrived."

There was a significant delay in hearings as the court closed down to wait for the  ambulance.

"Our (Maclean's) ambulance was on a call out, so we had to wait for the Yamba vehicle to get here," the court spokeswoman said.
