Say something nice - it'll do us all good

WHEN was the last time you said something nice about someone?

And when was the last time you had a whinge or a rant about something?

I'm willing to bet that for most of us the whinges have outnumbered the compliments.

It seems we have become a nation of complainers … we are quick to fire off an email, tweet or Facebook comments when we are unhappy or feel hard done by.

And we expect the business involved to grovel, apologise or at least offer us something for free. And sometimes that is fair enough.

Yes, life can be tough but that makes it more important to notice the good stuff - the stuff that makes you smile and feel a little happier as you go about your day?

And the funny thing about paying someone a compliment for a job well done or a simple kindness is that it makes you feel good too.

Let's start right here and now: if you have received some great service,  been impressed by someone's good attitude or enthusiasm for the task at hand let us know about it.

I'll go first - I had dinner at Amici at Caloundra on Wednesday night and I was delighted with the great food but what really made it special was that the staff were so happy and friendly to the customers and each other.

From my seat I could see them talking to each other and they all looked so happy to be at work. The atmosphere was refreshing and relaxing.
