Come, grab yourself a Boxing Day bargain

BARGAIN hunters, prepare yourselves.

Today is Boxing Day, and we all know what that means: Sales, sales and more sales.

Keep an eye out for discounts on gifts for those family or friends you didn't see Christmas Day - you'll be sure to pick up something on a specials rack.

Or if you're super-prepared, start thinking about next Christmas; you may just save yourself a few bucks.

Low Pressure Surf Co's Noel Smith encouraged shoppers to take full advantage of the sales.

"It would definitely be worth your while coming down town today," he said.

Mr Smith said last year's Boxing Day sale was better than he had predicted.

"It was a record Boxing Day for us," he said.

"I think people were more aware of the discounts on offer after Christmas."

Mr Smith said he had had plenty of people through the doors in the lead-up to Christmas this year and accessories and gift vouchers had been good stocking fillers.

He said he had placed items on sale during the pre-Christmas period to encourage people to make purchases.

"It gives people that extra incentive to buy."

And he'll have plenty of items on special for today's sales.

"I'm hoping Boxing Day will be as good this year as it was in 2012. I've had the shop for 13 years and it was the best Boxing Day sale we'd ever had."

"We weren't really expecting it ... it was out of the blue."

Mr Smith said tourists were often looking to spend up during the Boxing Day sales.

"People will be looking to pick up a few bargains, that's for sure."

Grafton Shoppingworld will have specials on today, along with stores throughout Maclean and Yamba.

If you're in Prince St, pop into Cotton On, Grafton Surf Co, More 4 Men while you're there.

Rumour has it that they're amongst the stores with bargains galore.
