Splendour tickets on sale, again

SPLENDOUR in the Grass tickets will go on sale at 9am this morning after sales were halted last night at 9pm.

Festival organisers said external issues with both Westpac and the Moshtix website prevented many punters from buying tickets yesterday morning.

“We understand how frustrating it was for so many people this morning,” said event producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco yesterday.

“We did expect a ticket rush but none of us expected what happened this morning and unfortunately it was all beyond our control. We were very concerned that all those people who hold Westpac and affiliated cards were disadvantaged today as well and that has contributed to this decision.”

Westpac’s banking glitch, caused by an air conditioning failure at the bank’s data centre, affected purchases not only with the bank’s own credit cards, but with Suncorp, St George, Citibank, Heritage Building Society, Cashcard and Jetstar cards as well.

Amidst the turmoil, some festival goers found success by purchasing tickets through their smart phones.

The Moshtix website appeared to be functioning as normal by about 1pm yesterday but tickets did not sell out.

Twitter, on which Splendour in the Grass had been trending highly in the morning, also grew strangely quiet on the subject in the afternoon.

Both event-camping and event-only tickets will be on sale today.

Splendour in the Grass is headlined by Coldplay and Kanye West and will be held at Woodfordia from July 29 to 31.
