Confidence is key, says award-winning Coast employee

WINNER of the Sunshine Coast Individual Award for Employee of the Year, Melinda Dines, has been with Kim McCosker's cookbook publishing company 4 Ingredients for nearly eight years.

"I'm a busy mum," Melinda said.

"I have three boys and a husband that travels four and a half hours a day to work.

"If I can get quick easy delicious meals on the table for my family, then that's fantastic.

"I think that's why I resonate with the fans out there...because I'm the typical 4 ingredients mum. Juggling everything with my work and my kids, and extracurricular activities."

Melinda said she had applied for the award for three years in a row, but it was only after she decided to "step outside my comfort zone" that she won.

"Sometimes if you have more confidence in yourself things can happen," she said.

"I'm a humble person but I thought I need to step outside my comfort zone and say actually I do all these things."

She said the reaction among her supporters had been "amazing".

"People that I haven't met came up congratulating me, saying I deserve it.

"All the six finalists really deserved the award - it's an honour to be a finalist.

"When I found out I won, words can't explain it...it means to much to me."
