MOTORSPORT: To say Corbett Boys Racing team brothers Chris and Dale Corbett were excited to their start to the V8 Dirt Modified season last week would be an understatement.
The Grafton team is looking to tackle the remaining major events on the V8 Dirt Modified calendar, including the 5 Star Dirt Series, which makes up the national and state title calendar events for the class.
Kicking things off last Saturday night at Brisbane's Archerfield Speedway, Chris, 20, was pleased with third in the feature race from a sixth-place start, after coming home third and fifth in his heat races.
Dale, 23, had a DNF three laps into the feature race, with a broken steering rod and a flat left-front tyre, following a difficult run in the heats which had him place eighth and sixth, putting him out of position 14.
Corbett Boys Racing team plans to contest 15 race meetings, mainly on the east coast, and the Corbett siblings are quick to praise their team for its hard work, and their valued sponsors, who allow them to take on the country's best V8 Dirt Modified racers.
"We have a big season planned and a lot of effort has gone into getting both of our cars ready during the off season,” Chris said.
"There are no two ways about it, if it wasn't for the support of our team members and sponsors, then we simply wouldn't be able to do what we do.
"The support of our team and sponsors pushes both Dale and I to go out on the track and do everyone proud, and the goal we have both set is to be a consistent top-five contender and nothing less.”
