Couple's not guilty drug plea

A GRAFTON couple facing a string of charges alleging involvement in the trafficking of illicit drugs pleaded not guilty to all charges when facing Grafton Local Court yesterday.

Brett Wicks, facing nine charges, and his partner Tristen Davenport, facing five counts, fronted the court briefly to enter their pleas.

The prosecution moved to have the case adjourned to Newcastle Local Court on July 7 so their case can be heard with others caught in the same police operation.

These include Wicks’ brother former Newcastle Knights rugby league player Danny Wicks and his ex-Knights team-mate Chris Houston.

Danny Wicks, now playing league locally with the Grafton Ghosts, was identified by police as being a key player in the drug ring.
