Court told of firearms, drugs find

POLICE found four unregistered firearms including an automatic rifle, nearly $12,000 cash, 26 grams of amphetamines and 594 grams of cannabis when they issued a search warrant at a McCosker Ave, South Grafton address last August, Grafton Local Court heard on Monday.

Michael Joseph Tapp, 35, of South Grafton, faced court on a total of 22 charges including six for possession of an unregistered firearm, three for supply a prohibited drug and two for knowingly deal with proceeds of a crime.

The serious matters above were adjourned to May 2 and no plea has been entered for them.

But Tapp was dealt with on Monday in an unrelated disqualified driving matter which occurred on December 23, 2009.
Tapp, who was already on a licence suspension when he was pulled up, blew 0.03 (special range PCA) when breath tested.

Magistrate David Heilpern gave Tapp a further eight month driver’s licence suspension, a $700 fine and a nine-month suspended jail sentence.
