Coutts puts Chard in charge of its finals aspirations

COUTTS Crossing Cricket Club has its eyes on the prize after falling at the semi-final stage last season.

The club reached the final three last summer before crashing to eventual runners-up Harwood.

Most of the players from that campaign have been retained and are optimistic that this season they can go one step further.

All-rounder Brad Chard has been named captain of the top squad.

As one of the smaller clubs in the Clarence River Cricket Association, Coutts struggles to find enough players to field teams in all grades.

In an effort to turn that around, Coutts will be holding two sign-on days at Ellem Oval next month.
