Crash at Coutts Crossing
12.30PM: AN ELDERLY man has been airlifted to hospital following two single-vehicle accidents at Coutts Crossing this morning.
About 8.40am a white Land-Rover carrying four occupants veered off the road at a corner on Kangaroo Creek Rd and hit a barbed-wire fence.
The minor crash left the occupants, a woman and three young children, shaken but unharmed.
According to police the woman and two of the children then left the vehicle, while a three-year-old boy stayed inside.
Minutes later, a Subaru Forrester lost control on the same corner and collided with the Land-Rover, wedging it between two trees before coming to a stop at a 45 degree angle.
The three-year-old suffered minor injuries while the occupant of the Subaru, a man believed to be in his 80s, had to be cut from the vehicle and was airlifted to Coffs Harbour hospital in a serious condition.
Police are investigating the cause of the accidents.
