'Beautiful girl' dies on way to family with presents

A YOUNG life was cut short on Saturday morning in a tragic head-on collision along the D'Aguilar Hwy.

Fiona Carvolth was driving to her hometown of Nanango with Christmas presents for her family when she was involved in a crash with another vehicle at Woodford, just before 8am.

She died at the scene.

Samantha Forbes said her little sister was the "brightest, bubbliest and most beautiful girl anyone could ever meet".

"Fiona was very determined, she was positive and a wonderful influence on everyone," Ms Forbes said.

The baby of the family, Fiona was the youngest of her three brothers, Steven, Josh, Glen and sister Samantha.

There has been an outpouring of support from the community and on social media.

"We have been overwhelmed with messages of support," Ms Forbes said.

"Everyone has been incredibly wonderful and we could not be more grateful.

"She's a pretty special kid and it's wonderful to see so many who got to see how special she was.

"She will be very deeply missed."

Ms Forbes said her 20-year-old sister lived life to the full and had fulfilled her dreams along the way.

"She just got back from Japan," Ms Forbes said.

"Her dream was to travel overseas and she fulfilled it.

"I want her friends and their friends to please use her tragic death to come together and live and love just a little bit more."

Family friend Ben Van Baalen has set up Fiona's Fund, an account to help the Carvolth family with the unexpected funeral costs.
