Collision puts two in hospital

TWO people were taken to Grafton Base Hospital after the motorcycle they were travelling on was struck by a car near Fisher Park yesterday morning.

A Toyota Camry driven by a female driver failed to negotiate a right-hand turn from Villiers St into Oliver St, crossing the island in the middle of the road before colliding with the motorcycle shortly after 11am.

The force of the impact pushed the motorcycle up a small embankment and through a section of the metal fence surrounding the Fisher Park hockey fields.

Ambulance officers treated the motorcyclists - a man and a woman at the scene before they were taken to hospital.

Both riders sustained lower leg fractures.

The female driver of the Toyota Camry was not injured.

Grafton police are continuing their investigations into the crash.
