Crowning night ends with brawl

THE pinnacle of the Grafton Jacaranda Festival, the queen crowning ceremony, has been marred by a large brawl.

Witnesses said that after the crowning ceremony finished a large fight broke out in Market Square between the stage and the Grafton Clocktower corner.

They said several police vehicles and at least two ambulances attended.

Police vehicles, with sirens running, also screamed off towards the Grafton skate park.

There were some disturbances towards the back of the crowd during the crowning ceremony.

It is not known whether there were people injured.
