Page candidates have different CSG view to Party policies

COAL seam gas exploration on the Northern Rivers is an issue which has united much of the community with more than 80% of locals against it.

It is one of the issues that will determine who wins in Page on Saturday and our local candidates are united in opposing CSG on the Northern Rivers.

But whether their respective party backs their view is a different issue.

Page MP Janelle Saffin is strongly opposed to CSG in our region.

"I will keep the Federal water trigger protections the Coalition says it will undo and keep the pressure on all levels of government to keep our region CSG-free," Ms Saffin said.

However, the Labor party supports CSG exploration, subject to the water trigger amendment.

Nationals for Page Kevin Hogan said he doesn't support CSG exploration in the Northern Rivers.

"I've had a look at the industry in a more mature phase and I have reservations," Mr Hogan said.

However, the National Party supports coal seam gas exploration.
