Cubs and Indians to square off in World Series

BASEBALL: The two Major League franchises with the longest title droughts will go head to head in the World Series after the Chicago Cubs' 5-0 shutout win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Cubs will face the Cleveland Indians in the seven-game series starting Wednesday morning (AEST) after securing the National League Championship Series 4-2.

Chicago has not been in the season decider since 1945 and has not won the World Series since 1908.

The Indians' title drought stretches back to 1948 and they haven't made the World Series since 1997.
