Cupcakes for a cause
IT'S NOT very often that eating cupcakes is for a good cause, but that time was this morning when Elders Real Estate Grafton hosted their first RSPCA Cupcake Day.
For an office full of animal lovers, they didn't need much convincing, and it wasn't long before their home-baked creations were sold out, with more than 150 cupcakes sold in two hours.
Elders marketing manager Jaz Grady said the morning was a great opportunity to raise money for the RSPCA, and through their cupcake sales and online donations had already raised $400.
"Right at the start of the morning, one lady bought $15 worth of cupcakes, then went back to her car and came back for more," Ms Grady said.
"There were lots of local businesses who came through a bought a lot of cakes, and individuals came past too, which was great."
Ms Grady said there were a wide variety of cupcakes in animal themes, and everyone had fun getting into the kitchen and baking up their contributions to the sale.
"There was a bit of rivalry in the office to outdo each other with their cakes, in a great team-building kind of way," she said.
"There were a few cupcakes that were chickens, and the feathers were made from marshmallows, and they looked amazing. There were vegan and gluten free ones too.
"The results were fantastic, and it's great to be able to help support such a worthy cause like the RSPCA. It's nice to do lots of different things like this, and when we saw the cupcake day coming up we decided to take the opportunity to get involved.
"We are an office full of animal lovers, there's quite a few people here who have cats or dogs or cattle or horses, so we all love animals."
