Darling Downs woman becomes instant millionaire

THE Darling Downs is home to one of the state's newest millionaires after a local woman discovered her Saturday Gold Lotto entry had won a first division prize in the $21 Million Superdraw.

The Chinchilla woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she was oblivious to her new millionaire status for more than two weeks until she finally checked her entry last Friday.

"It's wonderful!  I just never thought I'd ever win first division," the winner declared.

"When I was first told that I was a millionaire, I started to shake like a leaf!

"I've played my favourite numbers for years and always wished and hoped that one day I would win and now I have!

"I'm in shock at the moment and really can't think what I'll do with my prize money.  I'm going to wait until it's in the bank and then I'll sit down and think very carefully about what I'll do with my windfall."

The winning 4-game marked entry was purchased at Chinchilla Casket and Newsagency, 87 Heeney Street in Chinchilla.

Rick Walsh is the owner of Chinchilla Casket and Newsagency and said he was delighted to know that his customer has finally discovered that they're a millionaire.

"For two weeks we were holding our breath waiting for the winner to come forward and claim their prize," Mr Walsh said.

"But after a fortnight we were convinced the winner must have been from out of town so you can imagine we're delighted to find out our winning customer is a local!"

Throughout Australia, there were 19 entries that won a first division prize of $1,105,263.16 in the weekend's Saturday Gold Lotto $21 Million Superdraw.

There were six division one winning entries from Queensland, four division one winning tickets sold in New South Wales, six in Victoria and three in Western Australia.

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3617 on Saturday 19 March 2016 were 31, 10, 24, 16, 28 and 8, with the supplementary numbers 2 and 4.
