David Beckham to start Miami soccer team?

DAVID Beckham is reportedly starting a soccer team in Miami.

The retired soccer ace - who ended his career earlier this year after playing for French team Paris Saint-Germain - has reportedly picked the sunny city in Florida to launch his very own Major League Soccer (MLS) team, according to reports.

The 38-year-old star quit soccer after finding glory playing for teams such as Manchester United, the Los Angeles Galaxy and Real Madrid.

He is now looking to expand his business empire - which also includes his own bodywear line - by launching a soccer team and he will receive a generous discount from the MLS, paying $25 million in fees for the upstart group.

MLS executive vice president Dan Courtemanche said: "We know that Miami is one of the most passionate soccer markets in North America. We have met with David Beckham regarding ownership of an expansion team, and we look forward to David one day owning an MLS club."

David included the option of becoming a team owner one day into his contract with the MLS when he joined the LA Galaxy team in 2007.

The soccer hunk, wife Victoria, 39, and their four children - Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 11, Cruz, eight, and two-year-old Harper - moved back to his native hometown of London following his retirement from the sport.
