Davis duo gets ready to wrangle Maclean Campdraft

NATURE had its way with the Maclean Campdraft, but five years later community demand has brought it back stronger than ever.

Maclean Campdraft assistant coordinator Bruce Green said a record number of nominations was proof the community was looking forward to the event at Maclean Showground tomorrow and Sunday.

"We have about 520 nominations," Green said.

"We also need about 700 head of cattle to run it and we've got that too.

"I can't count all the good riders that have nominated."

Green said among those good riders were brothers Scott and Mitchum Davis.

Scott recently took out the Maiden and Open drafts at Ulmarra, and Mitchum won the Australian Dog Trial Championships.

Mitchum said he was helping organise the event, but was looking forward to having a go when possible.

"Scott and I won't be competing against each other," Mitchum said.

"But we've got a couple of handy horses. I always get involved for the enjoyment. We like to do what we can to keep these country events going."

Green said he wanted to thank all the sponsors including major sponsor Mareeba Aged Care.
