Death may have been caused by assault

HOMICIDE detectives have taken over an investigation into the mystery death of a man in the main street of Parramatta late Thursday.

Police discovered an unconscious man, who appeared to have been assaulted, in Church St about 11.30pm.

He died later in hospital.

It was a violent 24 hours in Parramatta's CBD.

Hours after alleged assault victim was found, another man was found in nearby George St with stab wounds.

He was also taken to hospital where he remained in a serious but stable condition on Friday.
