Delilah at home in Big Brother
FROM the streets of Ipswich to a starring role in a hit reality television show, Delilah has clawed - or rather, pawed - her way to fame.
Since her Big Brother debut two weeks ago, Delilah has easily won the hearts of housemates and thousands of viewers.
The adult kelpie has become hugely popular in her role as intruder on the show, a far cry from her loneliness as a wandering stray in Ipswich.
She was rescued by the Animal Welfare League of Queensland (AWLQ), and was chosen to represent the animal shelter on Big Brother due to her fantastic temperament.
Delilah's playful antics and the care she shows for all housemates have made her a house favourite, AWLQ's Brooke Whitney said.
Ms Whitney said Delilah's confidence in the boisterous household had "exceeded expectations."
"Delilah was put in the house with the understanding that she would be taken out if she became stressed, and that certainly hasn't happened," Ms Whitney said.
"We visit the Big Brother site to keep up to date with what is happening behind the scenes, and we watch her online as well.
"Her stress levels are very low; her tail's always wagging and she's always keen to get in on the action."
Ms Whitney said Delilah had put her social skills to good use in the house.
"She was on foster for two months before the show, so she was used to a busy house setting," she said.
"She's clearly having a great time in the house.
"We thought she'd hang out with a few people who would become her favourites, but she's become friends with everyone.
"There might be a lot of gossip in the house, but Delilah's become everyone's confidante."
Delilah's eviction night costumes have also become a hit with audiences.
Housemates have dressed her in a pink cape and silver bolero for past eviction nights.
Ms Whitney said the AWLQ did not recommend the unnecessary costuming of pets.
However, Delilah's stylish outfitting would be allowed to continue as long as she didn't show signs of discomfort.
After Bradley's eviction on Sunday night, Delilah has been left with nine human companions in the Big Brother house.
She arrived in the Big Brother house on Tuesday, September 25, and will leave for her future home later in the month.
