Please send me to Nauru, I need a break

IF I'm ever sent to a detention centre please make it Nauru.

If you believe the bleeding hearts, it's a hell-hole.

But the pictures I see of white sandy beaches and swaying palm trees tell another story.

So did Nauruan President Baron Waqa. Asylum seekers offered places in America are refusing to go. Indeed 50 who left to resettle in the US are now begging to go back to Nauru, according to the president.

Refugee life on Nauru do not live behind bars and can move freely and mingle with locals. They get free housing and medical care, holidays to Fiji and offers of work. But work is not compulsory.

Successive Labor governments set up the camps on Nauru and expanded them. ScoMo is doing his best to remove the asylum seekers without weakening our borders. The LNP government is quietly fixing Labor's colossal blunder.

Union lapdog Bill Shorten is wishy-washy on border protection and I can imaging the people smugglers will be cheering for him to become PM.

The Queensland Teachers Union and GetUp! are sponsoring Tuesday's teachers' strike in support of asylum seekers and no doubt will wave #Bringthemhere banners. Education Minister Grace Grace, the union factotum, was clearly embarrassed when asked about the strike in Parliament.

She said only a handful of schools would be involved.

She neither condemned the strike or approved of it. Conflicted, she sat on the fence.
