DEX photographer in picture for win

DAILY Examiner chief photographer Adam Hourigan has made it to the finals of photographer of the year in two categories in the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers' Association (PANPA) awards.

The DEX stalwart's two images (above and right) captured the attention of judges and he is a finalist in Lifestyle Photographer of the Year (Rural/Regional and Suburban) for his photo Opera with the Cows, as well as making the finals of News Photography of the Year ((Rural/Regional and Suburban) for the image he took at the Glenugie blockade.

The accolades just keep coming for Adam, who also scooped the 2012 APN Regional Media Awards for photographer of the year.

Adam has won three PRODIs and has been recognised at the Australian Institute of Professional Photography awards for the past four years, but has yet to win a PANPA prize.

We'll be cheering for him on August 29 when the winners are announced at a gala dinner in Sydney and we'll also be keeping our fingers crossed as The Daily Examiner has been nominated as a finalist in Newspaper of the Year (up to 10,000 circulation).

The Examiner last took home the top gong in 2009.
