CRCA CRICKET: Harwood veteran Mark 'Dicky' Ensbey delivered an unbeaten 130 to put his side firmly in the driver's seat in the GDSC Premier League grand final against Tucabia Copmanhurst.

Ensbey arrived at the crease on Saturday with Harwood looking good at 2-113 and immediately set about building on the platform laid by Harry Nicholson (58) and Doug Harris (58).

He received support from Ben McMahon (35) who shared in a 127-run 4th wicket partnership while Nathan Essex (28no) delivered some late hitting to steer the reigning premiers to an imposing 6-376 from 96 overs.

Chris Adamson was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 for 76 off 23 overs for Tucabia.

While Harwood's batsmen were solid, Tucabia made the run chase tougher for themselves by giving up more than 52 runs in extras.

Meanwhile Harwood's bowlers were much more on target from the outset and took wickets at regular intervals to stifle Tucabia's chances.

Several batsmen made starts for Tucabia, with skipper Bob McKenzie (44), Matt Pigg (41) and Andrew Buchanan (44) each providing a glimmer of hope. But Tucabia needed one of those to replicate Ensbey's earlier efforts and make a big total. Each of their dismissals, at 3 for 77, 5 for 158 and 7 for 200 respectively, found Tucabia a little further behind in the run chase.

A last ditch effort from Brad Chard (60) and Tyson Blackadder (21) saw Tucabia pass 300. But when Ben McMahon (3 for 32 off 8.4) had Blackadder caught by Nathan Essex, Tucabia was all out for 308 and still 68 runs short of the required total.

It was the fourth year in a row these two sides had met in the Premier League grand final and the third in a row finishing in favour of Harwood.
