Disgust aired over Hitler celebration

GRAFTONIANS have expressed their utter disgust after saying they were invited to a party to celebrate Adolf Hitler's birthday this weekend.

Invites to a Hitler birthday party celebration were reportedly sent via Facebook this week, sparking a furious response from those receiving the invite.

Though it is not yet clear who sent the invites, the party was allegedly organised to take place at Grafton's Club PO on Saturday night.

Social network users vented their anger with the tasteless suggestion, which would have seen the event held just days before Anzac Day.

"Disgusting that anyone would even consider having a Hitler party," Kristene Wood said on The Daily Examiner Facebook page.

"Ignorance. Blind ignorance," Matt Katon added.

Administrators of the Post Office Hotel's Facebook page posted an apology message on Tuesday.

"The PO Hotel apologises for any offence a post has caused and as we have not directly been involved," the post said.

"We will do everything to rectify this issue so it never happens again."

The Daily Examiner was yesterday unable to contact the owners of the Post Office Hotel, which houses Club PO, to find out who created the invite.

On Monday the Facebook page of Club PO shows an event on its page "changed its name".

The event is referred to as just "My Birthday".

"Get ur back side into Grafton's only night club u love a bday party and now its mine so u should come (sic)," the post reads.

One individual, who did not wish to be named, was very offended by the invitation.

"I thought it was quite disgusting because I had family fight in both the first and second world wars," he said.
