Does daylight saving need a tweak?

AT 2am on Sunday people in NSW and Victoria get their lost hour of sleep back again when Eastern Summer Time reverts to Eastern Standard time for the winter.

As we have been enjoying the extended afternoon daylight the NSW Government's Cross Border Commission has been beavering away looking at the issues people on the NSW/Queensland border face because of the time difference in the two states during the period daylight saving is in force in NSW but not in Queensland.

The Member for Tweed, Geoff Provest, has backed a recommendation from the Commission to end summer daylight saving and instead move the clocks forward 30 minutes for the whole year in all the Eastern states of Australia.

What are your thoughts? Do we need daylight saving at all, do we need to consider the change the commission proposes or do we just keep things the way they are?
