Domestic Blitz, Kungala-style

WHEN CARLA Deery's husband Matt Cramp drives his wife along the dirt road leading to their home, friends and family fully expecting her to think she had arrived at the wrong house.

Ms Deery is fighting breast cancer and her case has captured the hearts of many members of the community.

But when you're battling for your life it's easy to fall a bit behind on home renovations and her friends decided to step in.

While Carla, her husband and her two children were away a team of workers slipped onto her Kungala property and set about making it over.

They've repainted walls, moved furniture, reworked the kitchen, recreated the bedrooms and now they're in the process of building a new bathroom.

"We also re-wired the bore pump," Carla's friend Robyn Luke said.

"We really reckon Carla's going to come down the driveway and say, "Matty you've brought me to the wrong house'."

Ms Luke said she had been blown away by the generosity of local business people who all helped out donating materials.

There is a list below but she said there were even more and apologised if anyone had been left out.

Ms Luke encouraged anyone with time to ring her and get ready to do some work.

"Because there will be more work going forward," she said.

"Carla's fighting this and if anyone can bloody beat this it's her.

"We're all just hopeful and we're behind her and we're doing what we can to help out."

Janeene Graham was also on site and had also been blown away by people's readiness to get stuck in.

"I'd especially like to thank Carla's six school friends who turned up and did so well," she said.
