Dream realised for showgirl

EVER since her friend Kelly Sutherland won the Maclean Showgirl title in 1998, Sigourney Hoy has wanted to enter the competition.

“Ever since she won, I've always said I wanted to be just like her... it has always been a big thing for me,” Sigourney said.

After completing her HSC, experiencing rural life in Central Queensland for two-and–a-half years and travelling to the USA for 12 months, she has now returned home and was the first contestant to enter this year's competition.

Growing up in Lawrence and Lower Southgate, the 22 year old said she competed in her first Maclean show when she was four.

“I competed in the horse section and when I was about 10, I started in the cattle section,” she said.

Girls aged 18 to 24 years, who want to compete in the Maclean Showgirl competition can get entry forms from Making Waves hairdressers at Maclean and DW Brown Accountant.

Alternatively they can call Nancy Brown on 6645 3246 or 0418 797 206. The deadline for entries is April 29, with the show being held on May 10 and 11.
