Dressing up the home for sale

Home staging, when less is definitely more.
Home staging, when less is definitely more.

HOME staging has become increasingly popular as a strategy to help people sell or lease their homes faster, and for more money. A home staging professional can present homes in a way that prospective home buyers will emotionally connect with.

Once the domain of high-end properties, home staging is increasingly common in properties of all values. For many, home staging can seem like an additional chore and expense, but the investment can really pay off, especially when that service is a minuscule proportion of a successful sale.

Home owners selling family homes, apartments and townhouses make up the greatest percentage of those hiring home stagers.

The majority of home buyers cannot easily look past what is in front of them to appreciate a home's potential. This is where staging a home can help to eliminate a buyer's guesswork.

Even if you were to stage your home yourself, whether preparing it for sale or as a holiday let, there are some basics to remember. Number one, not surprisingly, is to clear out any clutter and personal items as they can distract buyers.

If you can afford the time and the money, freshly paint the walls in a neutral colour such as white or cream and furnish the space with the best quality furniture you can get to show off how functional and appealing the home is. And finally, the master bedroom should appeal to both sexes, so you will need to store or get rid of any decor features that are either too feminine or too masculine.
