Driver in court for teens death

A 43-year-old Tyndale man is to appear in the Grafton Local Court again next week to face a string of charges arising from a motor vehicle crash in which a teenage Woodburn male died.

Grant David Wright was granted bail when the matter was in the Grafton court yesterday. Wright is charged with manslaughter, two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor, driving in a manner dangerous occasioning death, dangerous driving, negligent driving and driving with a mid range PCA (0.135).

No pleas have been entered.

Wright is alleged to have been the driver of a vehicle involved in a collision on the Pacific Highway near Tabbimoble about 6.45am on January 5 this year.

In that crash, the Woodburn teenager died and two people from Tyndale received serious injuries.

A teenage Tyndale girl was airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital with multiple lower limb injuries and a suspected fractured pelvis.

The collision closed the highway for two hours.
