Duel in the dirt

THE competition has been running for around 15 years but organisers can argue round one of 2010’s North Coast Motocross Series has been the most explosive yet.

Hundreds of riders flocked to Townsend for the series opening event.

On Saturday, 11 classes of youngsters took to the track before the seniors had their fun on wheels yesterday.

Clubs including Maclean, Ballina and Port Macquarie took part in the action.

Maclean Dirt Bike Club president Colin James said nobody left the venue a loser after the weekend as the weather played its part to perfection.

A pre-event downpour threatened the previous event at the Maclean track but there were no issues this time around.

“The riders got some really good air out there,” James said.
