Elderly man in serious condition after plane crashes

AN ELDERLY pilot remains in a serious condition after his plane crashed on a property in country NSW.

The 73-year-old man took off in a light plane from a rural property near Mudgee late Thursday.

Witnesses reported seeing the plane flying low before stalling and crashing into a paddock.

They ran to the pilot's aid and cut him from his safety harness.

The man was airlifted to Orange hospital where he was being treated for fractured ribs and a collapsed lung.
