Ellis half-century in vain as Tucabia roll through Easts
CRCA CRICKET: A determined half-century from GDSC Easts' emerging teenager Jacob Ellis was in vain as experienced Tucabia-Copmanhurst pace duo Brad Chard and Chris Adamson ran through the visitor's top order on their way to a 90-run victory.
Chasing Tucabia's first innings total of 8(dec)-257, the day could not have started worse for Easts as they lost captain Ben Hill (2) to Chard (4 for 50 off 14).
Easts opener Shannon Connor (49) hit the ball cleanly throughout his innings but was then forced to watch on from the other end as Chard ran through Nick Harris (0), Andrew Latham (5) and Jackson Grieve (0) before Ellis helped stabilise the innings, combining with the in-form opener for a crafty 38-run stand.
When Connor departed Ellis was joined by wicketkeeper Brad Knight (17), the pair blasting a 52-run stand before Knight lost his castle to the pace of Chard.
The wily Adamson also proved too hard to handle as his line and length bowling delivered seven maidens on his way to match-high figures of 4 wickets for 23 runs off 17 overs.
Andrew Buchanan (2 for 28 off 9) came into the attack late to spin his way through the tail before a late fightback from pace bowler Adam Spies (17*) and Ellis prolonged the result. Easts finished all out for 167.
