UPDATE: Police look into activated emergency beacon

UPDATE: The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has completed the search for the activated emergency beacon in Corindi Beach area north of Coffs Harbour.

The helicopter crew have reported that the signal is intermittent and weak.

Australian Search and Rescue (AusSAR) have directed the Rescue Helicopter to other duties whilst the local Police and Maritime services conduct further enquiries into the source of the emergency beacon. 

BEFORE: A search has started off the coast of Corindi Beach after an emergency beacon was activated. 

The Westpac Helicopter has been tasked with the search by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
