PRISON escapee Luke Baillie has been recaptured after escaping from Grafton jail in late January.
He was arrested on the Gold Coast last week by Queensland police investigating property crime. Baillie allegedly attempted to evade officers, but was detained by police dog Bodie. Baillie spent his 30th birthday in jail on Sunday.
He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to reappear before Southport Magistrates Court on April 18, charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle; enter dwelling with intent; enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence (theft); two counts of make threats, and; one charge of assault or obstruct a police officer.
NSW police expect to seek extradition for Baillie to also answer charges in relation to his escape from Grafton jail.
Baillie escaped Grafton jail on January 27 with another inmate who was recaptured in Grafton. It is believed the pair escaped by cutting a hole in a wire fence.
