Editorial - Wednesday, November 27: Everyone has their story

LAST week someone asked me what I liked about my job.

I gave an off-the-cuff answer of "I get to meet some pretty incredible people because of my line of work" then didn't think much more of it.

A few days later, I arranged to meet with Breanna Hastings.

I knew Breanna was a young mum and great girl; we went to the same school and share mutual friends. Since then, I'd followed her life on the wonderful world of Facebook.

I'd seen photos of her baby girl growing up and Breanna regaining her confidence; posting photos without her wig.

I'd always wanted to do a story with her on motherhood and alopecia, but I'd never really known how to approach it. Looking back, I wish I'd spoken to her sooner.

Breanna's one of those people who has an infectious smile and you can tell she's a battler.

It's truly humbling to meet people like Breanna and to be able to share their stories.

There are so many incredible characters around the Valley.

If you know of anyone with a life story you think needs to be told, call me on 6643 0551, or click here to send me an email.
