Excellero excels on the road for Shelton

GRAFTON SUCCESS: John Shelton has increased his stranglehold on the top spot of the Grafton Trainers leaderboard with a classy Maiden win at Murwillumbah.

While Murwillumbah is not a track that many local trainers manage to get a winner each season on Shelton tasted success there recently when prized stallion Excellero broke through for an overdue win in the Maiden 1010m.

Ridden by Kasie Stanley who has partnered the filly in all but one of her ten starts Excellero was not the best to begin from her outside gate but quickly made up ground to be racing outside the leader before the field reached the first turn.

Stanley allowed the filly to cruise in second before mounting a challenge once heads were turned for home.

In the run to the finish Excellero found plenty to score a solid victory.

Excellero continued the great run of recent success by Grafton trainersaway from their home track.
