Exhibition proves inspiring success

THE abstract works of artist Wendy O'Brien graced the walls of Yamba's Chapel Gallery on Friday night in another exhibition of local artistic talent.

Organiser Sandy Penrith said the meet-the-artist night was a great success.

"We had a very good gathering of around 60 people," she said.

"And we had some sales on the night which was unexpected."

Mrs Penrith said for many of those who attended it was the first time they had set foot in the gallery, which is housed in the former chapel at the Star of the Sea complex

Self-taught, Mrs O'Brien moved to the Clarence Valley around 10 years ago and settled at Yamba.

Drawing on various elements for inspiration, her paintings feature everything from Mona Lisa-style portraits to Picasso-inspired figures and shapes.
