Expect delays on the Summerland Way south of Casino

DRIVERS travelling on the Summerland Way between Casino and Grafton will soon have a safer and smoother journey, with roadworks set to start today.

But there's a catch - traffic will be reduced to one lane on the highway 24 hours a day until the expected completion date in early June.

Roads and Maritime Services has advised motorists of changed traffic conditions at Two Mile Creek on Summerland Way about 30km south of Casino.

The NSW Government is funding this $450,000 essential maintenance to improve the road surface.

Richmond Valley Council will carry out the work on behalf of the RMS, with an expected completion date of June 9, weather permitting.

Work hours will take place from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

The work will involve removing the existing road pavement, placing and compacting new road base materials and applying sprayed bitumen surfacing.

There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe.

Traffic control will be in place. Allow extra travel time and follow all signs.
