Expressions of interest for enviro education funding

COMMUNITY groups, councils, non-profit and environmental organisations are invited to submit expressions of interest for funding under the next round of the NSW Government's Environmental Education grants program.

Clarence MP Chris Gulaptis said $1 million in environmental education grants was available under the NSW Environmental Trust program.

"This program invests in educational projects that develop the community's knowledge, skills and commitment to protecting the environment," he said.

"The Environmental Education Program grants offer funding of between $5000 and $100,000 each."

About 50% of the funding is allocated to initiatives led by community organisations and 50% to state and local government-led initiatives.

The application process has two stages - firstly, expressions of interest are lodged and then applicants will be invited to submit full proposals during the second, invitation-only stage.

More than $1 million was awarded to 16 projects aimed at protecting the environment in the last round of grants.

Expressions of interest close on April 8.
