LOVE is in the air at McKinley High.

It's Valentine's Day in the world of Glee this week and everyone's favourite singing couple Finchel are officially engaged and all loved up.

If and when Rachel and Finn tie the knot is yet to be seen, but actor Cory Monteith has high hopes for his on-screen romance.

"I like a good happily-ever-after story," Monteith told The Guide during a recent trip Down Under.

"There's something sweet about them two. I think they're a lovely couple.

"They complement each other very well."

Monteith is keen to continue working on the show next series after Finn's high school graduation, "as long as they'll have me".

Glee's popularity made Monteith and his young co-stars household names nearly overnight, with many now landing roles in blockbuster films.

"It has been such an exciting opportunity," Monteith said.

"I really do owe it to the fans and the show (to stay on).

"I feel incredibly indebted to how this show has changed my life.

"A lot of people are really involved with this character and his storyline."

The mystery of what creator Ryan Murphy is planning to do when many of the main characters graduate has been a hot topic among Glee fans, better known as Gleeks.

Already in this series Monteith's character Finn has weighed up joining the army, moving to New York to be with Rachel and staying closer to home.

"I think working in Hummel Tire and Lube is definitely an option for Finn, carrying forth the family business, as it were," he said.

"I think it will remain to be seen."

It has also been an exciting series in terms of new and returning cast members.

Monteith's character helped convince Sam Evans, played by Chord Overstreet, to return to McKinley, while the Glee club welcomed Irish foreign exchange student Rory, played by The Glee Project winner Damian McGinty, into to the fold.
