Family at heart of the Clocktower Hotel

THE SITE of the now famed Clocktower Hotel has its foundations planted deeply in a rich history of serving the Clarence Valley, and it is this history that the current establishment draws upon to serve its 'family'.

Following the devastating fire that tore through what was the Parkview Hotel, the lot sat empty for years before veteran publicans, the Dougherty family secured the land and built the "most loved pub" in the Clarence Valley.

Most nights the 'Clocky' as it is affectionately known, is teeming with people filling up on beverages and food.

Junior Manager Lyn Andrews chalks the amazing customer loyalty from their patrons up to a myriad of things that makes the Clocktower Hotel "one of the best places to go".

"There are so many things that make this place great," she said. "We have the friendliest and efficient staff that look after the patrons, the pub puts on the best entertainment and we have a top restaurant that serves great food."

Mrs Andrews was quick to point out the loyalty of their regular patronage but referred to them as more than just customers.

"Our regular clientele are more like a big family to us. We see them most days and if they do go missing we get honestly worried for their safety. We care for them like family."

This love has apparently rubbed off on the local community as DEX readers voted the Clocktower Hotel as the best Valley pub in The DEX's Facebook poll.
