Family ties up futsal title

IT was a family affair at the Raymond Laurie Sports Centre late last month when the Weirdos claimed the local summer futsal title.

The team consists of two father-and-daughter duos, who lined up with three other keen players to scoop the gold.

Brett and Madelyn Ryan, and Jemma and Graham Beamer teamed with Evan and Dan Lewis and Mitch Green.

Rivals Whykickamoocow played a great game in the final, with just a one-goal margin separating the teams.

Perhaps it was the strong family bonds that got the Weirdos over the line.

The win capped a good season for the team with Madelyn and Jemma both previously selected at the National School Titles to play futsal in Brazil later this year.

Unfortunately Jemma is not going but Madelyn heads off in August to represent the Australian Vikings Futsal team.
