Fee plea as players face ban

A “NO Pay, No Play” rule has been implemented with netball fees now due.

Speak with your club delegate about paying your fees if you haven’t already.

You must be a registered, financial player to be insured by Netball NSW.

If you are having financial difficulty and are unable to pay fees in full, then see your club delegate to arrange a payment plan. Your privacy is guaranteed by all delegates.

A new supply of GNA socks and sun visors have now arrived and are available for sale at control each Saturday. The socks are $10 and visors $8.

Please come to control if you wish to purchase these.

Our next general meeting is to be held May 16 at 7pm at the clubhouse.

All are welcome to attend.

Umpiring update: The basic introduction to umpiring clinic for all new umpires continues again this week.

New umpires are encouraged to come along and learn the rules of netball. All 12 and 13-year representative players are required to attend.

Even if you did not attend last week, you would still be welcome to attend this week from 11.15am to noon on Saturday. If interested, just turn up on Saturday.

Umpires are still causing problems for some clubs.

All players need to make a concerted effort to purchase rule books and learn the rules of the game and assist with their commitment as a player to help with umpiring.

Rule books are available at control for $12.

We can also arrange for umpire coaching with some of our experienced umpires to go with you. You just need to ask for assistance.

All umpires must sign on at control prior to your umpiring commitment. This confirms to us that the game has an umpire as well as ensures club delegates know who they need to pay.

Representative: On Sunday, May 15 our rep teams head for to Lismore for the carnival.

All players will need to be at the courts by 6.30am. We will be travelling along the Summerland Way, so no stop will be available at Ulmarra.

Cost will be $20 per player for the bus and umpires.

This is to be given to your manager in an envelope as you get on the bus.

The 17-year representative barbecue is to be held this Saturday at the courts.

Please buy your lunch and support our 17-year rep team in their fundraising efforts.

There will be more barbecues over the coming weeks held by other teams, so your support is really appreciated.

Thank you also to the business houses around town that are supporting these teams.

We headed off bright and early on our long trip to Mullumbimby last Sunday.

It was a lovely bright sunny day but was very wet and muddy underfoot on the grass courts.

Whether it was the long bus trip combined with the early start, it made for some interesting results and lack of energy for the Grafton teams.

More concentration on the court by some of the teams will lead to more settled and controlled play.

We would like to thank Cindy, Bonnie, Kate, Chelsea and Marg for umpiring on the day and a special thanks to Bonnie for her expertise in coaching tips for the 15s in the absence of their coach.

All rep players need to be working on their individual fitness as early starts and three long days of netball at State and State Age means all players have to be as fit as possible to last the duration.

All shooters need to be putting up their 100 shots a day to ensure good defensive work is turned into positive outcomes.

A huge thank you has to go to Carol Simmons (Level 1 coach) and Keren Cousemacker for stepping in and taking on the role of coach and assistant coach of the 15-year rep team with Stacey moving away.
